Gwynedd-Mercy? Who the hell are they? And thank god we are 2-0 (lifetime) against Jersey City. Maybe the reason there is less furor is because no one has ever heard of our opponents. Although the Gothic Knights (Jersey City) have a *much* better team name than F&M, home of the Dips.
Posted by tor at March 9, 2004 10:04 AMI had to look it up--Gwynedd-Mercy is northwest of Philly. The year F&M lost the national championship, we lost to Wisconsin-Platteville. At least I know where Wisconsin is.
"Dips" is uninspiring, so just use the unofficial nickname: the Fighting Amish.
Posted by Carl at March 9, 2004 10:15 AMNo, I won't - because I feel that, having met many athletes at F&M, I have come to realize that many of them would have been better off as mathletes, so I will continue to call them Dips. When I refer to them at all. Which is rare.
And 'The Gothic Knights' is still better than even 'The Fighting Amish.' Even if the entire team were to wear 'Coed Naked Amish Rake Fighting' t-shirts.
