Comments: Check out THESE seats

The BW family - all two of us - was in section 514, row 7. My two main thoughts early in the game were,

"Damn, these would be decent seats for a season ticket package. Who'd have thunk?"

and

"Hmm. Sounds like pain."

The latter thought happened whenever any sound would come over the PA speakers. Screech is an aptly named mascot for RFK.

Might be worth the extra scratch to sit in the 4-teens, though, just to be a little less directly in the line of fire from those sonic torture devices.

I had the same question about Screech too. I thought he was an owl for a while!

Good point about Melvin leaving Koplove out for dead. Not only is he a righty, he's a psuedo-sidearmer (A VERY low 3/4 delivery).

The lefties just ate him alive.

Just a pointless, somewhat-naiive question from someone who isn't a heavy sports follower, but do they plan on tearing down RFK Stadium when the new one is built? (I'd ask *why* a new stadium is needed at all, judging from the looks of the photo there, but I guess it's the same answer as why Conseco Fieldhouse got built in Indianapolis... "more big-buck private box seats for the exec-types").

Yes, as with most new stadiums these days, it's all about the luxury boxes. RFK doesn't have many, and what they do have I think are much less fancy than at MCI Center or newer ballparks elsewhere.

As for the fate of RFK, I'm not sure. DC United will probably still play there. There's been talk of building a soccer-only stadium for DC United, though I'll be amazed if that ever happens. If it does and RFK is left without any tenants at all, I don't know what'll happen. I can't imagine anyone's itching to develop on that spot, so it might just stay vacant.
