I was out of the blogosphere when the mighty Nats put a pasting on the Twins in the Dome (Spurs fever). Anyway, well done. I told my friend if we lose the series to the freaking Nationals the Twins are dead to me. But try as I can, I cannot stop following baseball.
Posted by mike n at June 20, 2007 10:32 PMAh, what a game, what a game. It just so happens I scored my companies 4 tickets in section 223 for the game, so I took my Dad, Uncle and Brother. We obviously had a good time (despite my Uncle wearing his Nationals jersey on his son's behalf).
If it makes you feel any better, the "Let's Go Tigers" chants weren't loud enough that we really noticed. My brother was excited because his only Tiger experiences came after '84 (the year he was born, oh and the Tigers won the series) and before '94. Not exactly the halcyon days for the Tigers. It was the first victory he got to witness in person.
As for your somewhat misinformed comment...
"If you love Detroit so much, why don't you live there? Oh that's right, it sucks! It's cold and no one has jobs!"
Detroit is not the most pleasant of cities perhaps, but the state of Michigan is a wonderful place. Unfortunately, because fewer and fewer people have jobs – EVERYONE I know that still lives there is suffering – it has fallen intothe "visit but not live" category.
Too cold? Eh, get tougher! I truly miss four legitimate seasons (no, there is NO winter here in Virginia). The state is beautiful, and if you do choose to try and live there, rumor has it 4 bedroom colonials in and around Detroit can be had for $40,000 and less. Now that is depressing in all kinds of ways...
BTW, maybe Nats (dumbest "nickname" in pro sports by the way) fans will want to pay me not to show up. I was also in RFK for the debacle against the Mets.
I do believe the Nationals will turn things around. Not for several more years though. And not until they're good enough to get rid of their Tiger retreads – Fick, Logan and Young.
